I'm an actor, advocate, and creator building community resilience one event, one story, one connection at a time.

I'm a Raleigh, NC native based between NYC and NC, and a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My performance journey has taken me all over the world. I've performed in Disney's Aladdin (Pre-Broadway), sung lead at Glee Project Upfronts featuring Darren Criss, and brought life to iconic roles like Nettie in The Color Purple, Lorrell in Dreamgirls, and Justice in Rock of Ages. I've danced with companies like Urban Bush Women and PAS Jazz Dance Company of Seoul.

As Founding Executive Director of Darkness RISING Nonprofit, I created an organization dedicated to Black mental health, producing festivals and events where art, wellness, and advocacy intersect. I bring together artists, wellness practitioners, and cultural leaders to build spaces where marginalized communities can heal, connect, and thrive.

I'm a storyteller at heart. Through social media management and content creation, I translate mental health and social justice into digital narratives that inspire, move people to action, and bring some laughter. I use creative strategy and real talk to build communities and amplify communities in need.

This work is personal. It's urgent. And it's rooted in my belief that art and community can transform us.

Carlita is the Founder and Executive Director of Darkness RISING Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Carlita was inspired by her personal experiences with anxiety, depression and PTSD to create culturally competent mental health resources for the Black community.
